A former commissioner of police who worked in retired President Daniel Arap Moi's government is stranded at a hospital in India.

Duncan Wachira, who led the police force from 1996 to 1998, is alleged to have suffered a heart attack in July 2019, and was taken to India for treatment.

Taking to social media, former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim disclosed that Wachira's family was in need of help.

Former Commissioner of Police Duncan Wachira who is in India and in need of medical finances.

"Former Commissioner of Police Duncan Wachira suffered heart attack three months ago. He's undergoing treatment at Apollo Protocol Hospital in Chennai India. Thank God he's stable but the family exhausted all savings," he divulged.

Further, the politician urged the government to aid Wachira in offsetting the bill.

"Government of Kenya/Uhuru stand with Duncan in sickness. He stood with GoK in health," Maalim pleaded.

Due to the rot in the health sector in the country, renowned Kenyans prefer to seek medical assistance abroad.

Recently, gospel singer, James Ngaita Ngigi, popularly known as Jimmy Gait, flew to New Delhi in August 2019, for a throat condition.

The entertainer announced that he would formulate a petition to improve the state of medical practice in Kenya. He accused practitioners of misdiagnosing patients or sending them to seek treatment abroad for kickbacks.
