Mystery of Kabogo Ex-Aide Murdered in Puzzling Circumstances

Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo took to Twitter on Sunday, November 24 to defend the reputation of a flying squad officer who was shot dead on suspicion of being a robber.

Daniel Etyang was shot 12 times and the Uber driver who was in his company shot 5 times as they visited a house that was occupied by two Nigerians in Ruaka.

In his statement, Kabogo claimed that the slain officer was not a robber, because knew him on a personal level, having worked with him before he was moved to Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA).

"The late Etyang was my assistant for four years, thereafter worked with the MD KEMSA. I can swear he was not a robber, that’s nonsense, cold-blooded murder. The killers should face the full force of the law," Kabogo tweeted.

He was replying to former KTN journalist Shadique Shabaan's query on whether the death of Etyang might have been orchestrated by rogue police officers.

"Did rogue flying squad police officers in Ruaka take down a fellow constable police officer, Daniel Etyang, and an Uber driver, in a cold blood murder on Friday and labelled them dangerous thugs?

"Why was this officer clinically shot 12 times and Uber driver 5 times?" Sahabban had asked.

Teso North MP Oku Kaunya suspected foul play and urged the government’s investigative agencies to speed up the probe.

Kaunya, who spoke to Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) in his office, described the late Etyang as a highly disciplined police officer, adding that there could be other reasons behind the killing and called for the immediate arrest of whoever is culpable.
