Alex Mwakideu: I Quit Alcohol for My Mother

Milele FM presenter Alex Mwakideu on Saturday, November 30 revealed the real reason why he doesn't indulge in alcohol.

He made the revelation after he posted a photo of himself at The Norfolk Hotel in Nairobi, and in the background, a tumbler could be seen on the table.

"Good Morning from The Norfork Hotel!!! But I am just here for a meeting then I head to Nanyuki! Sijalala huku nisiwadanganye bure jamani (I won't lie that I spent the night here)," Mwakideu posted.

Curious fans quickly took note of the tumbler on the table suggesting that it contained alcohol. Mwakideu, however, responded by stating that he doesn't drink liquor because of his mother.

Replying to one of his followers by the moniker Esther Ingolo, he stated, "Imagine niliwacha pombe kabisa... I did it for mom!"

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke Mwakideu revealed that his mother was an imposing figure in his life, always advising him on the dangers of alcohol.

"She used to tell me every day, she didn't like the vibe. She always told me to stop drinking, it won't help me in any way," Mwakideu intimated.

"So when she passed on this year, I told myself I will never drink again. I told myself I won't cross into 2020 drinking," he added.

The renowned radio presenter, who hosts Milele FM's breakfast show alongside veteran comedian Jalang'o, lost his mother on May 21, 2019, four months after he lost his sister Eunice Mwakideu on January 11, 2019.
