Rachel Ruto's Humble Gesture Leaves Ezekiel Mutua Overwhelmed

Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) boss Ezekiel Mutua showered praises on Deputy President William Ruto's wife Rachel Ruto after a brief meet in Mwala, Machakos County.

Taking to his social media platforms on Sunday, February 2, Mutua intimated that he had been overwhelmed by the gestures of humility that he had seen from Rachel who graced the event.

"Rachael Ruto's humility and simplicity, whether born out of the Kalenjin culture or her Christian values are simply amazing. Yesterday I bumped into her in the burial of one of the iconic stars of my locality Mzee Joe Kyula in Kyawango, father to Rev. Julian Kyula of Purpose Centre Church," he wrote.

Mutua narrated that at the event, the organisers found it hard to treat Rachel as a person of her stature as she turned down all attempts to accord her VIP treatment.

This, he stated, was because Rachel had gone to the event not as an important figure in the Kenyan society but as a friend to the widow and the children of Mzee Kyula.

"She is a friend to the widow Jane Kyula and her children. It was a struggle trying to keep protocols and accord her the courtesy befitting of her stature. She would shrug off such overtures, instead preferring to be treated like a commoner as she mingled with the mourners," he narrated.

Mutua's sentiments drew widespread reactions from a section of Kenyans who also lauded Rachel for what they referred to as her simplicity and humility.

"Her humility and simplicity are on another level. Such people are highly lifted," Rozie Kim wrote.

"A great woman of God, I admire her fear of God and her humbleness," Purity Karambu added.

Others insisted that Rachel had opted for simplicity due to the fact that the funeral was a private event, but if it were a public event, protocol would have been strictly observed.
