Nyali legislator Mohammed Ali spoke about what he called collusion between media houses and government agencies to besmirch a section of politicians in the country.

In a video posted on his social media platforms on Sunday, February 23, Moha informed a gathering in his Nyali Constituency that after being in the media for long, he was aware of alegged ploys employed to soil the reputations of individuals in the country.

"I understand how radios, newspapers, and TV stations work. I have been in the media for more than 10 years so I know the malice that takes place in those buildings.

"I know that journalists are told or at times given scripts to write about someone yet they have no evidence to back up the claims. Please, do not be used by these people to destroy other people's reputations. Please, stop being used," he advised.

The former KTN journalist was addressing his Nyali Constituency where he insisted that investigative bodies were using the media to prosecute cases and for publicity purposes, but that no tangible progress was being made.

"Since 2017, we have seen criminal cases being mentioned in the media. How many have been solved? We cannot stand such sideshows in this day and age," he told the gathering.

Moha revisited cases including the NYS scandal where Ksh791 million was lost and many other corruption cases that he lamented had never been solved despite receiving significant media attention.

He further attacked the investigative agencies of launching a crackdown on politicians with whose political alignments they did not agree with and dared them to arrest him for his stand too.

"It seems like the investigative bodies are well versed in finding fault in people. I dare them to find fault in me and take me to prison because of my stand, but we will keep telling people the truth," he added.

Ali further reinforced his attack on the media with a post on his social media accounts on Sunday, February 23, where he roped in the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Daily Nation as partners in spreading what he described as fake news.

"Daily Nation/ Daily Confusion. DCI- Chief Editor. Only fake people value fake news," he wrote.

Mohammed Ali worked with the Standard Media Group from 2007 to 2017 before successfully vying for the Nyali parliamentary seat.
