Reports indicated that the detectives were still trailing other senior members of the county in what they suspect could have been a plot misappropriate Covid-19 funds.

It was alleged that the tender of the facility, which consumed in the upwards of Ksh800 million in two phases, was irregularly awarded.

Kingi had earlier praised the medical complex as a major boost in the fight against Covid-19 and also a feature that would serve the county residents long after the pandemic has been countered.

Some features of the facility included a well-equipped medical section and modern doctors' residence set to benefit medical practitioners working in the hospital.

"The completion of the ultra-modern health complex in Kilifi County has given our county government a much-needed boost in our efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

"A section of the four-story building has been converted into a 150-bed isolation center with 2 critical care rooms fitted with ventilators and ICU beds," stated Kingi.

The facility also boasts a cancer centre that will offer chemotherapy and radiotherapy services to cancer patients in the county and beyond.
