Marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge left for London, UK on the evening of Sunday, September 27 ahead of the London Marathon on October 4.

Kipchoge led the Kenyan team of elite athletes who were also accompanied by their pacemakers and technical staff

The Boeing 737-500 Corporate hit the skies at 8.15pm and headed towards Ethiopia to pick another team among them Kipchoge's arch-rival Kenenisa Bekele.

The plane, chartered by the London Marathon organisers, is commonly used to provide VIP transport for sports personalities, music and film celebrities as well as business people.

It boasts a 56 capacity cabin which is covered by a 100% wool carpet, giving it a luxurious and spacious feel. 

The interior also showcases a dip-film wood effect throughout the cabin.

Cruising at an altitude of 37,000 feet requires peace of mind which the cabin offers using noise reduction technology.

The Boeing 737-500 travels through the skies at a speed of 880 kilometres per hour. 

Basic items on the one-of-a kind menu include sweet and savoury biscuits, soft drinks and coffee or other hot beverages. 

Guests can get other upgraded items on request such as hot meals, fruit baskets, cheese platters, chocolates, and an open bar which Kipchoge and his colleagues may not need.

All the luxuries are necessary to help the athletes relax for the herculean task ahead of them.

Kipchoge will be going head to head with his arch rival Bekele who is keen to smash the world record held by the Kenyan.

The race scheduled for October 4, will pit  Kipchoge who holds the official world marathon record of 2:01:39 and Bekele whose best performance is only two second shy.
