Two Nation journalists, Geoffrey Ondieki and Jeff Lekupe, were attacked by unknown assailants while on duty at Serelipi on the Isiolo-Samburu border.
According to the Nation Media Group (NMG), the two employees sustained injuries following the attack and were taken to Achers Post Hospital for treatment.
Images shared from the scene of the incident showed a badly damaged vehicle. The windscreen was badly cracked, with a gaping hole at the centre, seemingly from being hit repeatedly.
Initial reports indicate that the two were covering clashes between police and residents in the area.
"We were on our way to to cover an incident involving the fatal shooting of a moran by a police officer at Serelipi area. Before we got there, armed morans ambushed and attacked us. We are very lucky to escape with injuries," Ondieki narrated to Nation.
The scribes sustained injuries on their heads, hands and legs, with Ondieki further revealing that he attackers were armed with clubs and swords.
