Liverpool star and Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has issued a list of demands ahead of his visit to Kenya's capital, Nairobi city on Tuesday, March 23.
Reports indicate that the superstar demanded Egypt's national football team to grant him a Ksh40,000 a night in a private hotel suite in Nairobi.
According to Liverpool officials, this is in a bid to prevent the football player from contracting the Covid-19 virus from his teammates.
The officials affirmed that they were taking no chances to ensure the safety of their superstar as he had contracted the virus during his last international tour.
Media reports reveal that the Egyptian team will be camping at the Hilton hotel during their stay in Nairobi. The hotel is widely acknowledged for hosting high-profile celebrities over the years among them the sixth UN Secretary-General Boutros-Ghali, Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie, musician Sean Paul.
Further, Salah also asked for a specific diet, which was approved by his personal doctor, and requested to be picked up directly from the airport by car to his hotel room.
The news elicited mixed reactions among Kenyans who were astonished at the star's demands while others deemed the demands fit for such a high-caliber athlete.
"That's 10 months' worth of rent, My God how did my ancestors wrong you?
"He is coming here to play for Egypt, not leisure.
"He is worth it. That's a football star. You don't expect him to sleep in some bedbug-infested backstreet lodging.
"That's a few hundred euros. These players earn millions of shillings a week," read some of the comments online.
Egypt's national team, the Pharaohs are slated to face off against Harambee Stars for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani on Thursday, March 25.
Salah also jetted in Kenya in 2019 for a surprise visit to the country while on transit. The reports went viral after a photo surfaced online of the player at the Hilton Garden Inn along Mombasa Road, Nairobi.
The superstar is currently the joint top scorer in the English Premier League (EPL) with 17 goals and is among the critically acclaimed players within the league.
Salah is reportedly the highest-paid player in Liverpool with a monthly salary of Ksh125 million.
