Fear and panic have gripped families of youth who have disappeared from their homes in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu county since 2013, amid claims of their having joined criminal groups including Al Shabaab.
Search for the 20 youngsters by the families has intensified as security officers start compiling the list of missing youth in the area.
Reports allege that the missing persons might have been recruited into Al Shabaab.
The concerns come in the wake of increased Al Shabaab activities and threats in the country, even as reports of young people in Kenya being lured into the terror group through such incentives as money continue to make headlines.
Security officials have called on the relatives of the missing youth to report to the police, promising that those who show up within the given window period will be pardoned.
The police will however launch a hunt for those who will be missing at the end of the given period and could be arrested.
Security officers in the area sought to reassure the general public, that there is no case for alarm.
