Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced planned road closure that will affect traffic flow along Langata Road and Mombasa Road.

Through a public notice issued on Wednesday, November 10, KeNHA informed motorists and other road users that Langata Road will be closed for eight hours.

According to the notice, the road will be closed on Sunday, November 14 from 5:00 am to 12.00 noon.

This disruption will be caused by the ongoing construction along the road and the planned erection of the Nyayo footbridge. This will affect the free flow of traffic from the Nyayo Stadium Roundabout that may even further affect Mombasa Road traffic.

Due to the closure, The Langata - Nairobi bound traffic will be diverted to the Madaraka Roundabout. The motorists will then be allowed to only use Aerodrome Road into Bunyala Roundabout.

KeNHA has further advised motorists plying the affected routes to comply with the traffic marshalls to ensure that the closure only causes minimal interruptions.

"KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with the police and traffic marshalls on site. Motorists are further urged to exercise caution and road courtesy for better management of traffic," KeNHA stated.

This closure comes as the construction of the Nairobi Expressway enters its final stretches. The construction is currently standing at 75 per cent, while the progress of the construction of the operation and monitoring center now stands at 98 per cent.

The monitoring centers will be vital in maintaining the road operations once the construction is done.

The Moja Expressway Company working on the road has so far employed over 4000 individuals, who are working on different sections of the Nairobi Expressway.
