Update Sunday, March 13 16.04 pm: Kiambu County Senator, Kimani Wamatangi has officially joined Deputy President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Speaking during a Kenya Kwanza rally at the Thika Stadium, he declared that he had joined UDA following consultations with the people of Kiambu who advised him that the DP-led party was the party for the region

"I am not here to joy ride.  I am here because this the place that I need to be. I have talked with the women in the market, the youth in their jobs, and the men in their homes, and even with my own family and all of them have told me that from here, UDA is the party," Wamatangi reiterated.

Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi on Sunday, March 13, joined the Kenya Kwanza during a highly charged rally at the Thika Stadium.

The Senator became the third Senate Majority Whip to leave the Jubilee Party over the last two years. Last year, Wamatangi was elevated to the position after the removal of Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata.

Kang'ata had served in office for about seven months after succeeding Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika who was ousted for associating with Deputy President William Ruto. All three politicians are now supporting the DP's camp.

The Kiambu Senator is eyeing the Kiambu Gubernatorial seat although his exact party of choice was not immediately clear.

Tujibebe Wakenya Party Leader William Kabogo also joined the Kenya Kwanza Alliance at the Thika Rally.

He will be competing against Chama Cha Kazi Party Leader Moses Kuria, Kabogo Thika Town Member of Parliament Jungle Wainaina, and former Governor Ferdinand Waititu.

During the rally, Kabogo officially announced that his party will be working with Deputy President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA). He also declared support for DP Ruto's presidential bid.

Kabogo told off President Uhuru Kenyatta for forging ties with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga stating and accusing him of imposing the former Premier on the people of Mount Kenya. He asked the President to retire from politics at the end of his term.

Taking a jibe at the Head of State, the former Tujibebe Party leader claimed that Uhuru had lost his say over the politics in the region and consequently appointed himself the spokesperson for the region.

"Some people are saying that the community will be shown the way by President Kenyatta, that is not possible. Yesterday, I heard them say that there is no one who can speak because he (Uhuru) is there, I want to declare today that I will speak on behalf of the Kikuyu Community." Kabogo remarked.

Kabogo made only one request to the UDA presidential candidate - that he guarantees that he will not leave out from government the people who supported him or treat them the way he has been by his boss.
