Household items can pile up if you do not recycle, donate, burn or repurpose them.

Around the house, you can spot several items that can be reused and save some money in these tough economic times.

Some of the items you can reuse around the house include CDs & DVDs, plastic water bottles, wine corks, shoe boxes, newspaper, and empty wet wipe containers.

CDs & DVDs

We all migrated from the traditional mode of watching movies and music on tape wing to the invention of the internet, which came with streaming sites.

CDs and DVDs thus pile around the house. One way to recycle them is to make a scarecrow for your vegetable garden.

You can also make a beautiful collage to decorate the house.

Plastic water bottles

You will find several plastic bottles lying around in almost every home. Rather than disposing of them, you can cut them up and use them to plant seedlings.

With plastic bottles, you can also innovate a silk drip system for your garden. This can be effective, especially in times of drought or when you are away for vacation.

You can also use the plastic bottle as the egg yolk sucker to separate it from the egg white in the kitchen.

Glass bottles can also be reused as flower vases or candle holders.

Wine corks

It's quite hard to miss a bottle of wine at every celebration event, whether at home or outdoors.

Dumped wine corks can be used to stop leakages in the drainage system. You can also use them to create a piece of art by glueing them together creatively.

You can also cut the wine corks to create enough room to use as a cardholder.

Newspaper

Just like with the CDs, the newspaper has somehow been rendered unnecessary by the internet.

Newspapers can be used to creatively wrap gifts to clean house and car window panes as it is more effective as compared to cloth.

Homeowners can also use them to cover cats' litter boxes.

Empty Wet-wipe containers

Wet wipes come in handy when on the street, at times when you need to clean your hand, face or other items.

Rather than dumping wet wipes, you can recycle them as a dispenser for string or paper towels.

The wet wipes containers can also be used to store children's crayons.

Shoe boxes

After successfully ordering and wearing your new designer shoes, you are always tempted to dump the shoe box under the bed.

However, with a little creativity, you can reuse them by organizing the workspace to keep it tidy.

Use the shoe boxes for storage by creatively cutting some holes for charging cables to pass through. You can also use them as jewellery boxes.
