Mama Ngina Kenyatta Awarded Doctrate at 82

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s mother –Mama Ngina Kenyatta- was conferred an honorary Doctorate degree in Entrepreneurship on Friday.

She was among the 4,000 graduates celebrating various marks of higher education at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

59 people were awarded Doctorates during the ceremony, presided over by Chancellor Geoffrey Ole Maloiy.

Mama Ngina was wife to Kenya’s first President -Jomo Kenyatta.

Besides the current president- Uhuru- she has three other children; Kristina Wambui, Anna Nyokabi and Muhoho Kenyatta.

Mama Ngina was awarded the honorary PhD for her excellent business skills which have seen the success of Kenyatta’s family business over the years.

The family has businesses and investments in various industries across East Africa including; hospitality, dairy, media and banking.

Some of the big business names that belong to the Kenyatta family include; Brookside Dairy, Heritage Hotels, Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA) and Mediamax Group.
