As 63-Year-Old Stephen Orot walked into Maseno school, on Monday, February 6, to mark his golden jubilee since his admission to the institution, little did he know that he would leave a mark in the life of one Neville Okoth.

Orot had gone to the school to mark 50 years having been admitted to the institution on January 22, 1973, for his A -Levels.

In symbolism, he wore the school uniform and carried a metallic box branded Maseno Old Boy.

During the process, he met Okoth who had just reported to the school to commence his studies at the prestigious institution based in Kisumu County along with his colleagues who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in 2022.

Unlike his colleagues who spent hours in queues to countercheck their shopping, the Form One student stood out as he did not have any personal items with him to be checked.

According to teachers at the institution, the student - who resides at an orphanage in Nakuru county - reported to school in the morning with an empty box.

"The Director of the New Hope Orphanage gave him transport to bring him to Maseno with a letter," one of the teachers revealed to NTV.

Having been touched by the boy's story, the 63-year-old promised to support Okoth throughout his schooling.

The retired agricultural officer alongside other school administrators also mobilised funds to get Okoth personal effects such as detergents and tissues.

Orot indicated that Okoth needed to be supported having posted exemplary results in the KCSE 2022.

"Having looked at his performance. I am very sure he is a Grade A material," he stated.

The gesture by Orot moved the student who was overwhelmed by the kind gesture of the school's old boy.

Left speechless, the Form One student was seen wiping tears from his eyes as he was consoled by the retired agricultural officer.
