Aaron Nanok

Aaron Nanok is an agronomist and the head of the Agri-Nutrition Unit in Turkana county.

He has been engaged in agricultural advocacy activities in Turkana by promoting Climate Smart Agriculture Technologies.

Through his food security programme in the county government, over 200 families have been elevated from the adverse effects of drought which has cost a number of lives.

Nanok, who is 31 years old was named the 2022 UN in Kenya Person of the Year for his work in championing sustainable Agriculture in Turkana County.

He was recognised for using Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) techniques to encourage the cultivation of climate-sensitive crops in line with the current climate patterns.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Management from Egerton University and a Masters in Food Security and Community Nutrition from Gulu University in Uganda. He also holds a diploma in Integrated Water and Resource Management from Israel.

Nanok was also named among the Business Daily Top 40 Under 40.
