Bob Njagi

Arguably one of the bravest souls in Kenya today, Bob Njagi has been integral in highlighting the issues facing ordinary Kenyans in 2024.

The activist, who is the leader of the Free Kenya Movement, endured everyone's worst nightmare when he was hustled out of a matatu and taken into confinement by unknown individuals in August 2024.

Ironically, the human rights defender had his own rights violated, spending 32 days behind four walls at the mercy of his abductors.

The activist endured inhumane conditions, including receiving food only two days a week, and at times going days without a decent shower.

His case only served to amplify an emerging problem in the country – that of abductions without any justifications.

In an extraordinary show of principle, Njagi showed little fear, with his strong conviction against the state, which he vowed to sue for the violation of his human rights.

This is despite the mental and physical toll his 32-day abduction had on him.

With his actions in the wake of a spate of abductions in 2024, Bob Njagi embodies what every activist longs for – resolve, determination, and bravery
