Daniel is a Kenyan heavyweight boxing champion.
The former African Boxing Union (ABU) champion came to the limelight after taking on Tanzanian boxer Karim ‘Mtu Kazi’ Madonga in January 2023 in one of the most hyped sporting contests in Kenya’s sporting history.
Mandonga ended up winning the fight via a technical knockout in the non-title super middleweight fight.
The much touted contest was scheduled as a curtain raiser for an even bigger fight between Kenyan boxer Rayton Okwiri and Tanzanian Ally Ndaro.
However, Wanyonyi would exert sweet revenge in July and was unanimously declared winner of the non-title light heavyweight rematch held in Nairobi.
Wanyonyi is currently 40 years old and hails from Bungoma County
