Ekuru Aukot

Ekuru is the urbane, articulate and firm lawyer catapulted to national fame through his work as the director of the defunct Committee of Experts on Constitution Review. He is the founder of Thirdway Alliance Kenya, a party that defines themselves as the one that responds to the needs of Kenyans and calls for responsive and transformative leadership in Kenya. Dr.Ekuru was appointed to chair the selection Panel that recruited the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in 2011 after parliamentary approval.

Dr. Aukot is also known for sponsoring a bill to amend the Kenya Constitution popularly known as Punguza Mizigo Bill through a popular initiative, managed to garner 1.2 Million signatures and approved by IEBC to proceed to county assemblies for debate. He also established a self-sponsored foundation- Ekuru Aukot Foundation in 2012, where he not only pays school fees for poor children from nomadic communities but also mentors them.

He wishes Kenyan leaders were like Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi who suffered without bitterness and gave back to society without expecting special treatment. While not officially engaged, the father of two likes discovering new places of interest within the country.
