Njeri Migwi is a tireless advocate for justice in the face of rising violence against women in Kenya.
Born and raised in Kariobangi, Nairobi, she was raised by her father after her parents divorced when she was six. Married at 16, Migwi endured violence, which fuelled her resolve to support others in similar situations.
She co-founded Usikimye, a movement combatting sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), providing refuge and a voice for survivors.
In January 2024, Migwi organised nationwide anti-femicide demonstrations alongside other feminists and NGOs. Under her leadership, Usikimye has rescued numerous women, children, and even infants.
Her work has earned her numerous accolades, including the CEO of the Year Award at the East Africa Women of Excellence Awards (2024) and Human Rights Champion at the Diar Awards (2023).
