Wangechi Kamau is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and founder of Classic Steel East Africa Limited, located in Nairobi.
Classic Steel East Africa Limited specialises in the production of steel and fabrication. Wangechi's venture also supplies products such as stainless kitchen equipment, bakery, cold room, hospital kitchen equipment, stainless steel balcony and staircase railings and stainless steel cladding.
The 34-year-old launched the company in 2020 and managed to sail it through the pandemic to expand in 2022 fully.
Before quitting, she rose from a receptionist to a sales representative to venture into the steel business.
In 2022, Wangechi's entrepreneurial journey earned her accolades, including being the best employer of the year award during the National Business Leadership Awards (NaBLA) in July.
The award was in recognition of her role in addressing the country's unemployment problem.
