The body of the late former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, has arrived in Kenya at 9:39am.
It was aboard a Kenya Airways flight, KQ 203, that landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). The plane was renamed RAO001 in honour of the late Prime Minister.
The remains were accompanied by a Kenyan delegation led by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who travelled to India to facilitate the return of Raila’s body.
The family of Raila Odinga, led by Mama Ida Odinga, President William Ruto, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, and other leaders, received the body at the airport, where military officers were on guard.
Raila’s body was draped with a Kenyan flag in Mumbai, India, before the departure at approximately 3am on October 16, 2025.
Raila's Body Slowly Leaves JKIA Escorted by Thousands
The body of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is slowly making its way out of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), escorted by thousands who breached the gates of the VIP section.
Raila's body touched down at JKIA at around 9:30am from India, where President William Ruto, former President Uhuru Kenyatta and members of the former PM's family were on hand to receive it.
However, a multitude of Kenyans ended up breaching the airport security at the landing zone, in an unprecedented moment that almost brought the entire process to a standstill.
The body is destined for Lee Funeral Home, where it will stay before being moved to Parliament for public viewing from 12 noon.
