1 Feared Dead as Police Engage Gangsters In Shoot Out

Police and armed gangsters reportedly engaged in an hour long shoot out at Donholm estate in Nairobi, Thursday evening.

It is alleged that three armed gangsters had been preparing to commit a robbery at Donholm's Phase 8 area, but police acting on a tip off promptly foiled the incident, Nairobi News reports.

Drama is said to have ensued around Bee Centre near the Donholm-Kayole roundabout after the gangsters driving in a vehicle reportedly declined to stop for police inspection.

The police chased after the suspected robbers who abandoned their vehicle about 500 metres on, fleeing on foot as they shot at the police.

Police allegedly shot dead one of the gangsters while the other two managed to slip into nearby apartment.

It is however not clear whether police managed to smoke out the remaining gangsters.
