President William Ruto on Thursday, May 23, will become the sixth world leader to be hosted a State Dinner at the White House.
The dinner menu has been selected by top US government officials with close supervision from First Lady Jill Biden.
For starters, President Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto will be served heirloom tomato soup with sourdough crisps accompanied by arbequina olive oil.
Vidalia onion and cucumber will also feature in the starter menu.
Ruto will then be treated to fruitwood-smoked beef short ribs and butter-poached lobster.
This will be laced with citrus butter, baby kale and sweet corn puree by the side.
The headliner dish is expected to exemplify classic American summer produce with Jill Biden remarking she hopes the Kenyan delegation enjoys it.
Ruto will then be treated to a white chocolate basket with banana ganache dessert.
The dessert will also include raspberries, peaches and candied lime zest.
While Kenya’s Head of State is a teetotaler, Jill and Joe Biden have selected three wines that will be served during the dinner.
They include; a Hartford Court Chardonnay from the Four Hearts Vineyard, a pinot noir from St. Innocent Winery, and an Iron Horse Classic Vintage Brut sparkling wine.
President Ruto and his US counterpart Joe Biden have a shared love for gospel music and it will prominently feature during entertainment.
With a mix of country music, the entertainment will feature Howard Gospel Choir and Brad Paisley.
"As guests leave, their path illuminated by our one moon, I hope they will be filled with that same warmth I felt on my visits to Kenya,” Jill hopes the state dinner will be a success.
“I hope it will mark a friendship that will endure, helping create a shining and prosperous tomorrow.”
