The Kenya Meteorological Department on Monday, May 27 published the expected weather forecast from May 28 to June 3.

Some areas will also experience showers and thunderstorms, while others will experience sunny intervals.

While giving a breakdown of the forecast, the department revealed that some areas should expect a reduction in rainfall. Areas such as the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, and Rift Valley are expected to continue receiving rainfall within the said timeline.

"Sunny intervals are expected in the morning. Afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms are expected over few places." the department stated.

Additionally, the department informed Kenyans that daytime temperatures in the Coast, North Eastern, and North Western of Kenya will be above 30 degrees.

Night temperatures in the Central Highlands are expected to go below 10 degrees. The Coast and North Eastern regions are also expected to receive strong winds during the said period.

"Strong southerly to south-easterly winds with speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.9 m/s) are expected over some parts of the Coast and North-eastern Kenya."

"Rainfall is expected over a few areas in the Highlands East and West of Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley," read part of the forecast.

In the Highlands East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi, mornings are likely to be cloudy breaking into sunny intervals. This region will also experience occasional showers and at night it will be partly cloudy.

Notably, moderate rainfall is also expected in some parts of the country tonight.

The department urged Kenyans to look out for more forecasts from it's  official social media pages or the office of County Directors of Meteorology for accurate information to allow them to plan accordingly.

Over the last few months, different parts of the country have experienced heavy rainfall which has left some Kenyans displaced and others counting losses.

Kenyans in riparian areas are urged to vacate these locations to avoid being swept away.
