Embakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino on Tuesday decried consistent in-house disagreements within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

The vocal legislator while speaking during an interview on Ramogi TV alleged how a section of party politicians were inciting him against Azimio leader Raila Odinga.

“There are some of my brothers within the party, two to three who claim to be elderly. I respect them for being elderly but you can only get respected if you respect your younger brother,” Babu Owino claimed.

“You cannot demand respect yet you disrespect your younger brother, and keep on fidgeting with him every time. You keep on backbiting him yet you are a man. I even wonder how they live with their families.”

Babu Owino further claimed that despite some politicians claiming to be part of ODM, turned their backs when turmoil hit the party.

The lawmaker also went ahead to dismiss allegations that he was receiving funding from President William Ruto, affirming his loyalty to Raila.

According to Babu Owino, a chunk of his funds were outsourced mostly from well-wishers and political allies who reside outside the country.

"Do you think you can take Ruto's money and escape? I have never received any funding from the government, I am only faithful to Raila," the MP clarified.

"Some of my fellow party mates when they see me moving around with huge cash, claim I am funded by the Head of State yet I'm always against the president, throwing knuckle-attacks at him."

It is not the first time the Embakasi East legislator has decried betrayal within the ODM party, in March this year, the MP alleged political fallout with the party.

Speaking on Radio 47, the lawmaker noted that despite the in-party rivalry, he would not be barred from delivering for his people, insisting that he would continue looking at the bigger picture.

“I know very well I am not in love with the party, but that does not stop me from loving the party leader. I am looking at the bigger picture,” Babu stated.

"I told myself that I love my leader, let me just love him the way he is. Sometimes I can not be loved, something which is okay, and that is God's will," he added.
