Former President Uhuru Kenyatta through his spokesperson  Kanze Dena on Monday confirmed that the Kenya Kwanza administration has been denying his mother Mama Ngina, the former first lady, her entitled benefits.

Speaking during a live press conference, Kanze Dena explained that the government had  withdrawn Mama Ngina's security detail, all but confirming unverified reports which had been doing rounds on social media.

According to Kanze Dena, the withdrawal was done through a phone call in 2023 and without prior notice. She also refuted claims that Mama Ngina's security detail had been restored as claimed in certain quarters.

“In fact we would like to clarify that on July 18 2023, at 7:00PM, all her drivers and security detail, allocated to her were withdrawn from all her residences via phone, the claims in the media that personnel were reinstated are false,” stated Kanze Dena.

Dena further revealed that the government had failed to replace Mama Ngina's vehicles every three years as required by law.

Kanze, further explained that the three Range Rovers belonging to Mama Ngina were issued by former President Daniel Moi and replaced by the late President Mwai Kibaki.

“The three Range Rovers that  Mama Ngina has in her possession were allocated to her during the late President Moi and Kibaki’s tenures and replaced accordingly after every three years, the Government of the day has not provided to her with any vehicles, she added.

However, the vehicles have not been replaced as they should be, with one of the Range Rovers rendered unusable.

It was also revealed that Mama Ngina's fuel cards remain cancelled since March 2023 forcing the former first lady to fuel her vehicles from her pocket.

During the press briefing, Kanze Dena, speaking for the former President also rubbished claims of him having a fully furnished office maintained by the government.

Kanze Dena elaborated that the Former President furnished his current office and caters for the operational budget personally.

She further noted that the vehicles Uhuru was using were not new and accused the State House of blocking fuel cards for the same.
