CS Kuria Announces Mandatory Customer Service Training for All Public Servants

Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria on Thursday, June 13, announced that all public servants must undertake a course in customer service. 

Moses Kuria was speaking during the launch of the Customer Service Excellence Training Framework at the Kenya School of Government. 

The course will be offered by Huduma Kenya in partnership with the Kenya School of Government. 

According to CS Kuria, making the course compulsory would instil a culture of accountability as well as that of service excellence.

Head of Public Service Fekix Koskei who was also in attendance confirmed that it will now be mandatory for every government employee to take the course. 

Koskei noted that the training will improve service delivery and increase productivity in government institutions. 

“The Customer Service Excellence Training Framework is a concrete step towards realising the vision of serving Kenyans with dignity and excellence,” Koskei echoed an earlier statement made by CS Kuria. 

The event was also graced by the Principal Secretary, State Department for Public Service Amos Gathecha who lauded Huduma Kenya for the development of the framework. 

“This launch has been a journey guided by the need to improve customer service in the Public Service sector,” PS Gathecha noted.

Other leaders who attended the launch of the course included Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Huduma Kenya, Mugambi Njeru, and Chairperson of the Council of Kenya School of Government Charles Nyachae.

CS Kuria did not reveal whether civil servants will be required to pay for the course and the consequences of refusing to attend the classes.
