The Cabinet on Thursday approved the establishment of the Kenya House Experience 2024, an initiative designed to market Kenya at the upcoming 2024 Olympics.

In a despatch released on Thursday following a cabinet meeting, it was revealed that a Kenyan house booth will be set up at the Summer Olympic games in Paris set to start on July 26 and run all the way to August 11.

According to the statement, the government has resorted to this strategy to showcase Kenya as one of the best tourist destinations in the world.

“As part of the preparations for the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France, and in honour of our men and women in various disciplines who proudly represent Kenya at international events, bringing glory to our nation, Cabinet, in keeping with a tradition established in 2012, has approved the establishment of the Kenya House Experience 2024 in Paris, France,” read the dispatch in part.

The government is also hoping to tap into the tournament's reach to promote Kenya as a key hub for trade and investments at a time when the Kenya Kwanza administration is seeking to attract more Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

Finally, the government stated that the  Kenyan House experience has been designed to celebrate Kenyan sportspersons who have continued to fly the Kenyan flag high in global competitions.

The Kenyan House experience was first established in 2012 in London, where it served as a key marketing tool.

Further, the establishment of the Kenya Houses is also enshrined in Vision 2030 as a means to market Kenya as a leading tourist destination.

“The government will upscale the establishment of ‘Kenya Houses” in international sports competitions specifically Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, all Africa Games and world championships. This will help to brand and market Kenya as a tourism destination, stated Vision 2030.

In addition, the Kenya Vision 2030, mandates that the government establish cash and kind awards schemes to improve sportsmen’s and women’s impetus or psyche to participate in international competitions.

This directive follows the  Olympic trials which have been ongoing at the Nyayo Stadium as athletes race to clinch a spot at the prestigious games.

The trials began after the World Athletics approved Nyayo Stadium as the venue for the qualifying races.
