The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) on Friday, June 14, announced the temporary closure of Uhuru Highway.

KeNHA indicated that the closure will affect the highway section between the University of Nairobi Roundabout and the Nairobi Expressway Exit or Museum Hill Exit along the Nakuru-bound carriageway.

This section of the road will be closed for ten days, from Friday, June 14, to Sunday, June 23.

According to KeNHA, the closure is necessary to allow for maintenance works on the specified section of the highway.

Motorists intending to use the Nakuru-bound section of Uhuru Highway were advised to seek alternative routes.

The alternative routes proposed by KeNHA include Nyerere Road, Arboretum Drive, Riverside Drive, and Ring Road Kileleshwa.

Motorists were also urged to approach the affected section with caution to avoid obstructing the repair work.

"Follow the traffic signs and guidance in place as directed by police and traffic marshals on site," KeNHA noted.

"The Authority remains committed to ensuring seamless connectivity to facilitate safe passage for economic prosperity."

The announcement comes four days after the authority announced traffic interruption along the Mombasa road.

KeNHA has attributed this traffic interruption to the construction of the mid-span footbridge foundation along this bustling highway.

According to KeNHA, the road works would begin from June 13 to June 16, road users traversing the route should anticipate disruptions near Katani Road Junction along the lanes headed towards Mombasa.
