Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki dismissed allegations on Thursday, July 4, that he was contemplating resigning from his current position.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, CS Kindiki clarified that he had not done anything that could warrant his resignation.
While ruling out the possibility of quitting, Kindiki noted that the thought of stepping down from the CS role had not yet crossed his mind.
According to the Interior CS, he would happily resign only if there was enough evidence that he was underperforming in his role.
“As to when I am resigning, that matter has not crossed my mind because I do not have a reason to resign,” the Interior CS clarified.
“If for whatever reason I was convinced that I have done anything that warrants my resignation, I would happily do so,” he added.
Kindiki's clarification comes hardly a day after Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale also rubbished plans of stepping down from his government job.
CS Duale stated that he was ready to resign in case the Head of State felt that he was among the non-performing ministers.
Duale while insisting on the matter, called on Ruto to review the performance of all the Cabinet Secretaries and make the final decision.
“If the President feels I have let him down as a Minister of Defence, I want him to do the right thing,” Duale stated.
“Not only start with me and all the rest who have let him down in the interest of the Kenyans and tell us to step aside, I will have a new team. I am ready,” he added.
CS Duale's sentiments followed hours after senators called for an overhaul of President William Ruto’s cabinet.
The senators led by Kakamega lawmaker Boni Khalwale called for the disbandment of unconstitutional offices within the government including the office of Prime Cabinet Secretary.
