Migori Senator Eddy Oketch has called for the immediate resignation of Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki, and Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome.

The call comes amid growing public outcry over the government's failure to explain the increasing number of abductions and killings across the country.

Speaking during a panel discussion on Citizen TV, Oketch stated that the government cannot trivialise arbitrary arrests and mysterious disappearance of Kenyans believed to be orchestrated by the police.

"The government cannot wish away the killings and abduction of Kenyans. If President Ruto, CS Kindiki, and IG Koome are not able to account for the deaths and abductions of Kenyans, they need to leave office," Oketch said.

Adding to the mounting criticism, Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei aimed specifically at Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome, accusing him of remaining mum as Kenyans seek answers on arrests, killings and abductions of their friends and family members.

"IG Koome is a failed leader and should be shown the door. He has not appeared to give the security situation of the country and I hear he is off air," Sigei stated, condemning the Inspector General's apparent absence and perceived inaction during a time of crisis.

This surge of discontent is part of a broader wave of opposition spearheaded by Generation Z.

The young generation has been at the forefront of protests against President Ruto's administration, accusing it of rampant corruption, extravagant executive spending, and the introduction of oppressive laws that stifle freedoms and discourage economic growth.

President Ruto has been pressed by Gen Z to reduce the size of his government, end corruption and avoid the introduction of draconian laws among other proposals.

During a TV interview, Ruto appeared to be lacking sensitive information about the status of security in the country after some protesters allegedly fell victim to police brutality.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki denied that there were abductions believed to be effected by the police in the country, saying that the officers were just doing their job.
