Former Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugine Wamalwa is the latest Azimio-Affiliated leader to distance himself from the call for dialogue post-anti-government protests.

Taking to his Twitter (X) account, Wamalwa reiterated that the public outcry on the call for dialogue was a testament that Kenyans are not keen on having round table dialogues with the government.

According to him, the current regime should have more actions than holding talks and dialogues with the opposition.

He called on the government to take necessary actions that will see a raft of austerity measures that will drive a change in different government parastatals.

"I agree with Kalonzo Musyoka that what Kenyans want is ACTION, not DIALOGUE and we should not be used to sanitize this failed Regime," he stated.

Wamalwa further added that he would not be part of the conversation while calling on other Azimio-affiliated leaders to shun away from taking part in dialogue with the government.

This comes a day after Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka distanced himself from the ongoing dialogue call. Kalonzo through his X account took a swipe at leaders noting that he would convene a meeting with Azimio leaders to deliberate on some of the concerns raised.

"I'll tell Raila Odinga the same when we meet as Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party. We cannot be seen to be sanitizing this Ruto regime," read part of a tweet on Thursday.

Similarly, Martha Karua joined the list of leaders who were opposed to the call for dialogue.

Karua in her reaction said for the talks to be successful, all parties must have goodwill while terming the move as a trap.

The call for dialogue emerged during the signing of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Amendment Bill, 2024.

The IEBC bill is one of the key implementations that are a result of the National Dialogue Committee talks.

In a quick turn of events, Walamwa who represented the opposition in the NADCO talks denied the final report from the talks but has maintained his ties to the Opposition.

Wamalwa said that he does not believe they did justice to the issue that was most pressing to Kenyans, which is the cost of living. He insisted the report was still a burden to Kenyans.

"l didn’t and will not append my signature to the NADCO report, and have not and will not accept any sitting allowance for the same because l believe we did not do justice to the single most important issue to Kenyans which is the cost of living."

President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga agreed to commence a six-day multi-sectorial forum.

The forum, set to begin on Monday, July 15, and conclude on Saturday, will foster national dialogue and seek lasting solutions to Kenya's pressing issues.
