CS Joho Appoints 83 Members to 9 Community Development Agreement Committees

The Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho has established nine Community Development Agreement Committees between various communities and corporations across the country.

In a gazette notice dated August 1, the CS revealed that this was as per Regulation 7 (1) of the Mining (Community Development Agreement) Regulations.

The first of these committees formed was between the Jaribuni Community in Kauma Sub-county, Kilifi County and Victoria Engineering Company Limited, comprising 14 members. 

“It is notified for the general information of the public that pursuant to Regulation 7 (1) of the Mining (Community Development Agreement) Regulations, there is established a Community Development Agreement Committee in respect of the Community Development Agreement entered into between Jaribuni Community and Victoria Engineering Company Limited, comprising,” part of the notice read.

The members of this first committee were Omar Said Omar, Agnes Wangari Wachira, Peter Shehe, Cameline Harusi, Johnson Mwanje, Sara Mkambe, Alex Chai, Glaris Meya Ndaa, Simon Mwakudza, Justus Kadenge, Janet Mbucha Kesi, Daniel K. Zambava, Sandys K. Ngoya, and Lilian K. Chiguba.

The second Community Development Agreement Committee between Jaribuni Community and S.S. Mehta and Sons Limited also consisted of 14 members, three of whom were the first three members of the first committee.

Additionally, the first three members—Omar Said Omar, Agnes Wangari Wachira, and Peter Shehe—also joined the third committee between Jaribuni Community and Hunan Road and Bridge Construction Group Company Limited.

The fourth committee was also between the Jaribuni Community and China Civil Engineering Construction Limited, consisting of 14 members—11 new and the initial three.

The same was repeated in the fifth committee between Jaribuni Community and Shree Sahjanand Vijay Enterprise Limited.

However, the sixth Community Development Agreement Committee was between Boyani Community, in Rabai Sub-county, Kilifi County and Karsan Ramji & Sons Company Limited, consisting of 14 new members.

They include Vincent Yeri Chengo, Fatuma Mohamed Sarai, Mae Mwadema, Mwanaharusi Dudu, Philip Muthami, Grace Lwambi, Douglas Kimweli, Tsimba Mkamba, Daniel Osoro, Mwalimu Ngati, Anthony Kenga, Nzaka Munga, Ravji Vekaria, and Kishor Kumar Varsani.

The sixth committee was also between the Boyani Community and Karsan Ramji and Sons Company Limited.

The last two committees were, however, back to between the Jaribuni community and  Victoria Engineering Company Limited and another one with Shree Laxmi Concrete Limited.

In total, the appointments made on July 9 were 83 across the nine committees.
