Angry protesters on Thursday staged demonstrations along the streets of Bomet town as they demanded the immediate ouster of Governor Hillary Barchok.

The rowdy protesters who were mostly youth lit a bone fire along the main highway leading to the town, paralyzing the transport system, a situation that forced most businesses to close.

While protesting, the demonstrators hoisted huge placards and twigs and marched to Governor Barchok's office to demand his resignation.

The furious residents accused Hillary Barchok of incompetence and failing to fulfil the promises he made to them. They also accused him of mismanaging county funds.

In the footage that has since circulated widely on the internet, the protesters could be heard unanimously chanting the governor's name as they called for him to step down.

Police officers who were on high alert were quick to intervene after a section of the youthful protesters attempted to break into the governor's residence.

The officers were depicted engaging in running battles with the protesters as they attempted to disperse the demonstrators who adamantly sought the governor's audience.

The incident in Bomet comes hardly two days after residents of Nandi stormed Governor Stephen Sang’s office while protesting over the delayed implementation of county projects.

After hours of protesting outside the governor's office, Sang was compelled to come out and address the demonstrators.

During his speech, the governor vowed to heed the demands of the protesters and stated that he was ready to engage them.

"I am ready to engage with you in a dialogue and you have the right to be heard. I have come here because you Gen Zs should be heard by the government," Governor Sang stated.

"I want you to tell me in what way we can engage in a meaningful dialogue," Sang added.
