A group of angry demonstrators on Tuesday stormed Nandi Governor Stephen Sang’s office while protesting over the delayed implementation of major projects.
The demonstrators, who were mostly youth, hoisted placards and twigs and marched to Stephen Sang's office before forcing their way into the governor's premises.
While expressing their outrage, the protesters demanded an audience with the governor accusing him of failing to implement critical projects within the county.
In the footage that has since circulated widely on the internet, the protesters could be heard unanimously chanting the governor's name as they sought an audience with him.
After hours of protesting outside the governor's office, Sang was compelled to come out and address the demonstrators.
During his speech, the governor vowed to heed the demands of the protesters and stated that he was ready to engage them.
Sang called on the protesting youth to embrace a dialogue in which they will have a platform to raise their grievances.
"I am ready to engage with you in a dialogue and you have the right to be heard. I have come here because you Gen Zs should be heard by the government," Governor Sang stated.
"I want you to tell me in what way we can engage in a meaningful dialogue," Sang added.
He further urged the protesters to avoid engaging in destructive protests and promised to come up with a long-term solution to their demands.
The protests in Nandi county come against the backdrop of the recent nationwide anti-government demonstrations witnessed in the country.
The deadly protests saw President Ruto come up with a multi-sectoral forum to address the issues raised by the demonstrators.
