Angry protesters on Tuesday stormed Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi’s office premises located in Kabarnet town and demanded an audience with him.
The rowdy protesters who were mostly youth marched through the road leading to the governor’s office as they chanted Cheboi’s name in unison.
While protesting, the young protesters demanded a meeting with the governor to address several matters that they claimed were ailing the county.
During the heightened demonstrations outside the governor's office, the protesters accused Cheboi of failing to heed the promises he made to them and demanded his accountability.
In the videos obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, the protesters could be seen attempting to pull down the governor’s metallic gate as they sought access to his compound.
Meanwhile, others could be captured attempting to climb up the perimeter wall that protected the governor's office.
However, their efforts to gain entry into Cheboi's compound hit the rocks after police officers who were on high alert intervened and began dispersing them.
After hours of protesting outside the governor's office, Cheboi was forced to come out and address the demonstrators.
While flanked by his bodyguards, Governor Benjamin Cheboi pledged to heed the demands of the protesters and stated that he was ready to engage them.
The incident in Baringo comes hardly a week after protesters stormed Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok's office compound demanding for his ouster.
During their protests, Bomet residents lit a bonfire along the main highway leading to the town, paralyzing the transport system, a situation that forced most businesses to close.
The furious residents accused Hillary Barchok of incompetence and mismanaging county funds.
