Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on Thursday accused foreign entities of funding the anti-government demonstrations witnessed in Uganda on Tuesday.

In a statement, Museveni faulted the foreigners for continually meddling in the internal affairs of African countries through neo-colonialism and economic exploitation.

While making the allegations, Museveni issued a stern warning to the sponsors of the recent protests and vowed to deal with them.

“All those involved should know that Uganda is not a neo-colony where those shallow schemes can be deployed,” Museveni stated.

He further alleged the infiltration of the demonstrations by goons whose aim, he claimed, was to plunge the country into anarchy.

According to the Ugandan president, some of those who participated in the Tuesday demonstrations had already been arrested and awaited arraignment in court.

"Some of the authors and participants of the demonstrations were planning very bad things against the people of Uganda," Museveni stated.

"That is why, they should have listened to the police advice, not to go on with the demonstration. But they rubbished the police advice."

His sentiments come hardly a fortnight after President William Ruto accused the United States-based Ford Foundation of sponsoring the anti-government protests in Kenya.

The Head of State while addressing Nakuru residents on July 15, talked tough reiterating the need for peace in Kenya and proceeded to claim that some parties were huge beneficiaries of the protests in Kenya.

"I want to ask the people from Ford Foundation to explain to us what they seek to gain by destabilizing Kenya's democracy," stated Ruto.

“I want to tell those people who are taking money and trying to fund violence in Kenya that I will stop them. We want peace and that is our stand,” he added.
