Suna East Member of Parliament, Junet Mohamed, has suggested the possibility of more nominations and potential appointments of ODM members to senior government positions.

Junet’s comments come amid ongoing discussions about the party's role in opposition politics and the decision to sponsor senior members to key government positions.

"Some of our people have joined the government and more people will go that direction," Junet Mohamed stated,

However, he reassured the public that the MPs remain steadfast in their commitment to ODM.

"As MPs, we are still in ODM standing with the people and we will do what the people want," he emphasized.

Junet, Raila Odinga’s close ally also made it clear that accountability remains a priority for ODM, even for those who have transitioned into government roles.

"If those who have left us and joined the government fail to do what the people want, we will still put them to task. We are still in ODM," he asserted.

Reflecting on the party's internal structure and leadership, Junet Mohamed lauded Raila Odinga's role, asserting his unique position within the political framework.

"Lesuuda has said there are three arms of government: the legislature, executive, and judiciary, but you know Raila Odinga is another arm of government. He is independent, he is standing with the people. You can't do things haphazardly without consulting Raila Odinga," he remarked.

Despite some members' shift towards government roles, the legislator was unequivocal about the continuity and strength of ODM.

"We will still have our ODM party, and our leader is Raila Odinga. We do not have the wherewithal to eject Raila Odinga from the party," he affirmed.

Addressing concerns about the party's future, Junet dismissed any notion that ODM's involvement with the government diminishes its significance in Kenya’s political playing field.

"Those who want to work with the government are allowed to do so, but there are those who will remain as key players in the political field," he clarified.

He also rebuffed claims suggesting ODM's decline, proudly stating, "There is no other party that is as big as ODM. A party that has been in existence for over 20 years."

His comments came days after President William Ruto nominated opposition big boys to Cabinet positions including; former Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, Wycliffe Oparanya, Opiyo Wandayi and John Mbadi.
