The Kenya Meteorological Department on Saturday urged Kenyans in select regions to brace for continued rains for the next five days from August 3 to August 7.
The regions forecasted to receive heavy rains include the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, North-western Kenya and the Rift Valley.
Counties in these regions include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi.
The counties of Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru were projected to receive heavy rains accompanied by a thunderstorm.
Other counties expected to receive heavy rains include; Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot, which were projected to receive heavy rainfall for the next five days.
According to Kenya Met boss David Gikungu, parts of the coastal region are also expected to receive moderate amounts of rainfall on the forecast's final days.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country was projected to remain generally dry with sunny conditions expected in various regions.
“Intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Rift Valley,” announced David Gikungu.
The Southeastern lowland regions of Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta were forecasted to experience sunny conditions throughout the weekend.
Similarly, the counties of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo would experience warm and sunny conditions for the first three days and cloudy conditions for the last two days.
Kenyans living in the counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi were also warned of very cold nights of temperatures below 6°C.
Additionally, high daytime temperatures of more than 30°C would be experienced in parts of the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya.
