Kenya Met Issues 7-Day Rainfall & Temperature Advisory for Nairobi & 4 Other Regions

The Kenya Meteorological Department on Tuesday, urged Kenyans in select regions to brace for heavy rains for the next seven days from July 30 to August 5.

In its forecast, the weather department stated that some regions in the country would receive rains in both heavy and moderate amounts.

Among the regions forecasted to receive rains include; the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, the Rift Valley, North-western Kenya, and the Coast.

Counties in these regions include; Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi.

Others include; Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru.

Counties of Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot were projected to receive heavy rainfall for the next five days.

"Sunny intervals are expected during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy though occasional afternoon showers and thunderstorms may occur over a few places," Kenya Met announced.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country was projected to remain generally dry with sunny conditions expected in various regions.

Kenyans living in the above counties were also warned of very cold nights of temperatures below 10°C.

Additionally, high daytime temperatures of more than 30°C would be experienced in parts of the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya.

The counties expected to experience high daytime temperatures include; Mombasa, Tana-River, Kilifi, Lamu, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa Isiolo and Kwale.

“Cold and cloudy conditions expected over parts of the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, the South-eastern lowlands, and the Rift Valley,” read part of the advisory.
