Kenya Met Issues 7-Day Rainfall & Temperature Forecast for 6 Regions Including Nairobi

The Kenya Meteorological Department on Tuesday cautioned Kenyans to brace for continued rainfall across various parts of the country.

In its seven-day advisory, the weather department stated that intense rains were expected in various regions of Central Highlands, Western Kenya and the Rift Valley region.

Other regions that were also projected to experience a similar weather pattern include; the Lake Victoria Basin, North-western Kenya, and the Northeastern part of the country.

Counties in these regions include; Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, and Nairobi.

Others are Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, and Homabay counties.

Additionally, Busia, Migori, Narok, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, and West-Pokot counties are also projected to experience downpours.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country was forecasted to remain dry with sunny intervals to be experienced throughout the day.

Kenya Met Director General David Gikungu while issuing the advisory, urged Kenyans to brace for very cold nights of temperatures up to below 10°C.

“Expect low night-time temperatures below 10°C in some parts of the Central Highlands, Rift Valley, & South-eastern lowlands,” the weatherman announced.

Nonetheless, the regions of the Coast which encompass the counties of Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi and Kwale alongside the regions of North-eastern and North-western Kenya were projected to experience temperatures of above 30°C.

"Stay hydrated and protect yourself from the heat!" the meteorological department stated.

“Intermittent cold and cloudy Conditions Expected in parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, South-eastern lowlands, and Rift Valley. Stay warm!”
