Two people on Tuesday died while ten others sustained critical injuries after a bus they were travelling in got involved in a road accident along the Gitaru-Kikuyu Road in Kiambu County.
According to witnesses, the bus which belongs to Archbishop Ezekiel's group of schools reportedly lost control before ramming into an oncoming trailer.
Following the incident, the school bus, which was full of passengers, veered off the highway before overturning at a nearby thicket.
Rescue teams were quickly dispatched to the scene and with the help of the members of the public, those trapped inside the wreckage were successfully retrieved.
Reports suggest that the bus was reportedly ferrying members of the public who had hired it for an event when it got involved in an accident while attempting to join the Waiyaki Way.
In the videos obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, the bus was in an upside-down position with all its windows shattered and seats strewn all over the area.
Similarly, the trailer was completely deformed on its front side depicting the extent of the accident.
Meanwhile, police officers managed to arrive at the accident scene hours later after which investigations were launched and the bus towed away to the nearby police station.
The latest developments come hardly three days after 13 people reportedly died in a road crash near the Salgaa blackspot along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway.
The accident happened after a 60-seat passenger bus rammed into an oncoming salon car before overturning.
While confirming the accident, the Kenya Red Cross Society revealed that about 36 people were critically injured in the early morning accident that occurred around 4 am on Tuesday, August 20.
“Thirty-six injured individuals have been taken to Molo and Coptic Hospitals following a road traffic incident involving a PSV bus and multiple vehicles at Migaa in Molo, Nakuru County,” Kenya Red Cross disclosed.
