The Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Thursday arrested a woman accused of running an unscrupulous defrauding scheme before going into hiding for two weeks.

In a statement, the DCI confirmed they apprehended the 36-year-old woman identified as Passy Ma Trevor, whose real name is Pascaline Peter, through a joint operation by DCI detectives and authorities from Kasarani.

The lady had gone into hiding after she was exposed by her victims for allegedly defrauding them millions in a fake investment scheme.

She reportedly falsely claimed to run a successful real estate company to reel in unsuspecting clients, who pumped their hard-earned money into her so-called ventures.

Police also claimed that the suspect operated a shylock scheme which she used to collect money as investments from her victims with a promise of a 30% return.

The clients mainly hailed from Nairobi, Machakos, and Kajiado counties.

According to a statement from the DCI, the suspect somehow convinced her victims to deposit money into four different bank accounts. Over time, she managed to defraud the victims an upward of Ksh350 million.

Pascaline was accused of consistently flaunting a lavish lifestyle online while her victims were left wondering about the fate of their financial investments.

Not only did she have a swanky home in Kantafuu, Machakos County, but she also attended lavish events, and was never shy of showing it all off on social media.

Some of the individuals who had been defrauded filed a joint complaint with the DCI, prompting a manhunt for the once-respected businesswoman and HIV activist.

At least 200 individuals fell victim to Pascaline's alleged Ponzi Scheme, with the DCI confirming 106 complaints filed.
