All interested individuals have been requested to appear at the  Langata Technical and Vocational Training Center on October 7 2024 and fill out the applications.

The sponsorships came after the High Court declared the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) unconstitutional.

The High Court on Friday, September 21 issued the ruling after deciding on nine issues following a petition filed by activist Wanjiru Gikonyo.

The three-judge bench comprising Justices Kanyi Kimondo, Justice Mugure Thande, and Lady Justice Roselyne Aburili ruled that the fund led to duplication of activities and was no longer fit for purpose following the advent of devolution.

Despite being declared unconstitutional, the court granted the National Assembly two years to finish pending projects across constituencies before the NG-CDF ceases to exist at midnight on June 30, 2026.

Members of Parliament however revealed that they intend to appeal the High Court ruling.

"In the appeal, the National Assembly intends to challenge all the findings of the High Court about the constitutionality of the NG-CDF Act 2015,” read a statement issued by the National Assembly.

MPs led by National Assembly Majority Leader and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah described the High Court as politically motivated and in line with calls by the Council of Governors (CoG).
