A family in Nairobi is in frantic search of their kin, a 27-year-old youth, who went missing mysteriously in the first half of October this year.
Speaking to the press on Saturday, Fred Motosi's wife and mother noted that the father of two went missing on October 9, 2024, after his first day reporting at his new workplace.
They further indicated that before securing the job, Motosi had been jobless for an unspecified amount of time.
His wife, Veronica Oruta, revealed that her husband failed to return home past 8:00 pm which was unlike him. Her attempts to reach him have been futile ever since.
"At 8:00 pm, the man had not returned and I assumed maybe he had friends and would arrive at 10:00 pm. At 11:00 pm, I wondered where he might be," the wife told the press.
"When I tried calling his cell phone at 8:00 pm, he did not pick and that is not his norm. I assumed he was busy and would call me back. I waited and tried at 9:00 pm but it was not going through."
Oruta further indicated that on the day of his disappearance, Motosi was carrying Ksh29,000 in cash, part of the amount he had received from his sister in the US. He, as a result, was targeted for having the lump sum.
"He had Ksh29,000 in his pockets. You know when someone has money, he can either be beaten up or killed," she added.
Motosi's mother corroborated his wife's sentiments noting that their last conversation was on the day of the disappearance at 8:30 pm.
"I called him at 8:00 pm and asked him where he was and he told me that he was at the stadium boarding a matatu heading home. That was the last time I talked to him," he stated.
The case was reported at Umoja 2 Police Station but the whereabouts of the kin remain unknown as investigations continue to drag on.
