The weatherman on Monday, November 18, announced that the current rainfall patterns witnessed across the country are set to continue over this week with the intensity varying from moderate to heavy.
According to the Kenya Metrological Department, many regions including those around major cities like Nairobi, are expected to experience rains in the afternoon as well as during the night hours.
Regions around Central Highlands, Western Kenya, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, South-eastern Lowlands, Coast, North-western, and North-eastern Kenyan are expected to experience rains.
The rains are set to be witnessed in the counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka-Nithi. Additionally, the areas will experience occasional thunderstorms.
Kenyans who stay around the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley will witness the same rainfall trends in the afternoon and at night.
Counties under the above regions include Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Busia, Migori, Narok, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, and West-Pokot Counties.
Regions around the Highlands, Rift Valley, and Central will experience low night-time temperatures.
''Average night-time (minimum) temperatures will be less than 10°C in some parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the Central Rift Valley and the South-eastern lowlands,'' the Kenya Meteorological Department stated in a statement.
Counties in the Northeastern region including Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo will also encounter rain in the afternoon and during the night.
The weatherman further revealed the same rain pattern will continue across the counties of Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta Counties as well as the inland parts of Tana-River County.
Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties will also have rain at night and in the afternoons as well as thunderstorms with average daytime temperatures of more than 30°C.
''Average daytime (maximum) temperatures of more than 30°C will be experienced in the Coast, North-eastern and North-western Kenya,'' the weatherman added.
