CSs Mudavadi, Murkomen, Barasa Lead in 14 Govt Appointments

Cabinet Secretaries Musalia Mudavadi, Kipchumba Murkomen, and Deborah Barasa have made several appointments in the latest wave of government appointments.

In a Gazette notice published on Friday, November 22, CSs in President William Ruto’s government made appointments in their various ministries as they sought to streamline the government’s development agenda.

Prime and acting Gender Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi made two appointments. He appointed Reuben Koima as a member of the National Museums of Kenya Board of Directors and Susan Akinyi as a member of the National Lottery Board. Both appointees will serve for a period of three years.

Additionally, the Health Cabinet Secretary appointed university lecturer Angela Ndunge as a member of the Social Health Authority. She also named Stanley Musyoki, Seraphino Lengewa, and Paul Githinji as members of the Mwai Kibaki Referral Hospital Board. All four appointees will serve for three years.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has appointed former Olympian Patrick Sang as a member of the Kenya Academy of Sports Council.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 35 (1)(g) of the Sports Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture, and Heritage appoints Patrick Sang to be a member of the Kenya Academy of Sports Council for a period of three (3) years,” the gazette read.

Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi appointed Njage Makanga Njoki as a member of the National Oil Corporation Board. Njage is the spouse of Bahati MP Irene Njoki. He is to be on the board for a period of three years. By doing so, Wandayi revoked the appointment of Joseph Ngugi Njenga.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos has made three appointments to the School Equipment Production Unit Board. He has appointed Justus Kiunga, Dorcas Kimwetich, and Henna Anyango as new members of the board, serving a term of three years.

Trade Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya has named Haron Kipkosgei Rotich as a member of the Numerical Machining Complex Board. Haron will serve in this role for a period of three years.

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has made two appointments to the National Youth Service Council Board. He has appointed Yussuf Abdi Gedi and Ann Mumbi Runji as members of the council, with both serving a term of three years. Yussuf previously served as the County Executive Committee Member responsible for Agriculture in Wajir County.

Muturi’s latest appointments came after naming Hussein Tene Debasso as a member of the council board on November 15. Tene later rejected the appointment. 

Agriculture CS Andrew Karanja appointed Sylvia Kamande as a member of the Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Board, concluding the latest raft of government appointments.
