Kenya Power scooped three awards in this year’s Marketing World Awards (MWA) held in Nairobi, this is according to a press release by the utility company on Sunday, November 24.

“Kenya Power has emerged as an outstanding brand in the effective marketing and communications industry after winning three coveted trophies at the 13th Marketing World Awards (MWA),” the statement read in part.

Kicking off the list, the national utility won the Public Sector Utility Brand of the Year Award, an award given for outstanding efforts in building a strong, trusted brand that resonates with its stakeholders.

The second award that Kenya Power scooped was the Communication Team of the Year (Public Sector) Award awarded because of the team’s efforts in engaging the public on the company’s goals.

Another win in the Communications department brought the total number of wins to three when the Head of the department, Kevin Sang, won the Corporate Communication Personality of the Year.

Sang was feted for his outstanding leadership in driving communication engagements for the brand.

"We are very glad for this win which reflects our shared commitment to excellence and the power of teamwork in delivering value to our shareholders,” said Sang while speaking at the event.

“Over time, we have continued to position our communications to reflect the reality of our operations and we will continue to strive for excellence in aligning our brand with the needs and aspirations of the communities we serve.”

The national utility attributed the wins to its ability to promptly address its customers' needs, strengthen its brand presence, and leverage digital platforms such as USSD *977# in driving campaigns like The Update Token Meter Yako.

The event convened top brands in Africa to celebrate excellence, innovation, and success in marketing and communications.

This being its 13th year since its inception, the MWA has been shining light on the most innovative and iconic brands, promoting success stories, product value, and excellent strategies for over a decade.

It celebrates both brands and industry experts who have made a genuine impact on the market across industries and sectors.

This year's gala, held in Nairobi,  provided an opportunity for industry leaders to connect, share ideas, and inspire greater achievements in the marketing and communications landscape.
