The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced that its next round of party nominations will take place on Saturday, January 10, 2026, as part of preparations to fill vacancies in the National Assembly and County Assemblies.

In a notice dated December 23, 2025, and signed by National Elections Board (NEB) Chairman Anthony Mwaura, the party stated that the exercise will cover the Isiolo South parliamentary seat and two county assembly wards in Embu County, as well as one in Kakamega County.

According to the notice, the vacant positions include Muminji Ward and Evuore Ward in Mbeere North Constituency, as well as West Kabras Ward in Malava Constituency.

The National Assembly seat for Isiolo South fell vacant earlier this month following the declaration of a by-election by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

For the wards, all three MCA seats became vacant after the incumbents resigned to pursue parliamentary seats.

The UDA party, through the notice, encouraged all interested candidates to apply through the UDA portal during the registration window from December 23 to December 31, 2025.

For the single parliamentary seat, the ruling party set the nomination fees for male aspirants at Ksh250,000, while women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWD) will pay Ksh125,000.

For the County Assembly seats, male aspirants will pay Ksh50,000, while female, youth, and PWD candidates will each pay Ksh25,000.

With the nomination date now set, political activity is expected to pick up in the affected regions as aspirants mobilise supporters ahead of the January 10 vote.

Courtesy of the communique, UDA becomes the first major party to formally issue a public notice and schedule for nominations ahead of the upcoming by-elections.

Already, the ruling party has scheduled its next phase of grassroots elections for Saturday, January 10, 2026. These elections will be held in the 3 counties, that is, Kakamega, Embu, and Isiolo, where by-elections will happen on February 26, 2026

According to an earlier notice, aspirant registration on the UDA Portal opened on December 4 and closed yesterday, on December 23, 2025.
